The Florida State Agricultural Response Team (SART) sponsors a limited number of trainings annually at no cost to participants. Registrants must be Florida residents serving communities in Florida to be eligible for participation. These trainings will take place at the Florida State Fire College (11655 NW Gainesville Rd, Ocala, FL 34482) from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM each day of training. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs and meals, but registration fees are covered by Florida SART for these classes.
Limited quantities of helmets and rope gloves may be provided by the UF VETS team. Participants should bring the following:
– Helmet (min. Class C or ANSI Z89.1 with chinstrap) if possible
– Rope or Mechanix style gloves if possible
– Work boots
– Long pants
– Long sleeve shirts
– Eye protection (ANSI Z89.1)
Low cost lodging is available on site and can be reserved through the Florida State Fire College website.
In order to be eligible for an OPS training, participants must have completed AWR first, or have previously completed the OPS level.
AWARENESS (AWR) ANIMAL TECHNICAL RESCUE
Participants will be able to assess scenes, identify resources, hazards, and necessary equipment, and perform limited roles in an animal technical rescue emergency. 8 hours CE from Florida State Fire College
OPERATIONS (OPS) ANIMAL TECHNICAL RESCUE
Involves hands-on, scenario-based training for tools and techniques used to conduct animal technical rescue in low and high angle environments. Rope Rescue Ops is recommended as a prerequisite for this training. 24 hours CE from Florida State Fire College.
